Long Distance
Since October 1, 2003, UFIT Telecommunications has been making lower cost long distance services available to faculty and staff campus telephone numbers using the prefixes of 273, 294, 392, and 846. The service is provided via AT&T and is for calls within the state of Florida (intrastate), the US (interstate) and the world (international).
To place a long distance call, just dial 9:
In-State: Dial 9+1+Area Code + 7 digit number
Out-of-State: Dial 9+1+ 10-digit number (area code + 7-digit phone number)
Toll Free Services
University departments can have toll free services (800, 888, 877, etc.) added to their new or existing phone lines. This service is provided by ITC/DeltaCom. This long distance company is presently on State Contract administered by the State Technology Office (STO). To request toll free service please submit a UFIT Telecommunications work order. Your toll free number will be assigned to your new or existing telephone line. The assigned telephone line will ring when your toll free number is dialed. If that number is in a terminal hunt group (rotary) and is busy, the call will hunt (rotate) to the next available line.
