UF Centrex Overview
The AT&T Centrex system provides legacy analog line services to the university. These analog lines are generally used for specialized applications such as alarm systems, elevator lines or legacy fax machines.
The main telephone system at the University is a VoIP-based system which uses Cisco phones. AT&T Centrex and UF VoIP have have separate five-digit internal dial plans:
- Phones within each system can be reached by dialing the last five-digits of the phone number.
- However, Centrex lines are not able to reach across to UF VoIP lines by dialing 5-digits.
