GCP
UFIT manages UF's enterprise agreement with Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Under the IT rationalization policy, UF business with GCP goes through UFIT. We work with you to design secure, highly available GCP services for your project, then build and manage them to UF's standards. UFIT also runs a GCP billing account for All of Us researcher workspaces.

What you get
- GCP services for your project in UF's Google Cloud organization, designed with you and built by UFIT.
- Sign-in with your GatorLink to the GCP resources your team needs.
- Internet access for your resources. See Networking below.
- Budget alerts by email.
- A UF billing account for All of Us workspaces, and Google's cloud credits for teaching. See Guides and FAQ.
What UFIT does
- Designs the solution with you, based on your requirements and cost.
- Builds and manages the GCP resources, and makes the changes you request.
- Sets up access for your team. Who owns what, and who can do what, is agreed during design.
- Pays Google and bills you each month.
What you do
- Tell us what your project needs and approve the design.
- Test what we build and tell us what needs to change.
- Use your access for the tasks agreed during design.
- Keep an eye on your costs.
How to request
- Get a UF Hosting account and billing ID. Your local IT unit sets these up. See Request an Account.
- Log in to the UF Hosting portal and request the "Public Cloud" catalog item.
- Start a risk assessment. Every new public cloud project needs one, and nothing can be deployed until it has been started.
UFIT then meets with you to understand what you need. If your project would fit better on UF's own hosting, we'll suggest that. Otherwise we work out the best GCP solution, agree a design with you, build it and set up access for your team. You test it and we make any changes. For changes after that, open a ticket.
If your project is part of NIH STRIDES, say so in your request. UF has a STRIDES agreement with GCP.
For an All of Us workspace or a course, follow the steps in Guides and FAQ instead.
Costs
UFIT pays Google and bills your UFIT billing ID each month for the previous month's use. We give you a cost estimate while designing your project. Budget alerts email you when actual or forecast costs pass set limits, and you can review costs at any time in Google Cloud's billing reports.
Networking
Today GCP has one network type, Internet Only. Your resources reach the internet and can't reach UF's private network.
UFIT plans to add a Data Center Extension network when projects need it. It would work like a network in UF's own data centers: resources would reach campus on UF's private addresses, and their internet traffic would go through campus.
