UF Hosting

UF Information Technology offers private and public cloud hosting solutions for university research and administrative needs. The Cloud Enablement team works with requesters to understand their specific needs and will work with you (and/or your team) to design, architect, implement, and manage applications to enable your project.

Private Cloud

Private Cloud

UFIT provides a variety of IT resources and services that are on premises in our two geographically separated data centers to support your projects at a reasonable cost. These services include:
•Virtual Server hosting
•SMB file share hosting
•Apache and IIS web site hosting (including WordPress)
•MySQL and Microsoft SQL database hosting

Public Cloud

Public Cloud

These public clouds are also available for use with UF data, with prior approval from UFIT:

• Amazon Web Services
•Microsoft Azure
•Google Cloud Platform

All prospective cloud projects are evaluated by the Cloud Enablement Team to determine if private cloud resources can fulfill the needs of the project.

Following that evaluation, the team will determine which Cloud provider can provide the resources needed at the lowest estimated cost. The UFIT Cloud Enablement Team will work with your team to architect the project, and to provide an estimate of monthly costs that public cloud resources will incur.

Effective May 12, 2023, the University of Florida IT Rationalization Policy requires faculty and staff who want to utilize a non-UF cloud hosting option to submit documentation and initiate a risk assessment for approval before engaging with Amazon, Microsoft, or Google.
