Captioning

All content recorded and uploaded to Mediasite will be automatically captioned. This captioning service is an AI driven solution and therefore may present inaccuracies in cases of more complex terms. If for any reason you find that the captions in your video content are not accurate, please submit a captioning request and our team will assist in making sure captions are ADA compliant under WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards.

If a currently enrolled student requests an immediate need for captions, please direct them to https://disability.ufl.edu/ for accommodation approval. If the DRC approves this accommodation, they will notify you and our department, and your content will then be given the highest priority for completion.

The Importance of Captioning

The UF Electronic Information Technology & Communication Accessibility (EITCA) accessibility policy outlines standards and guidelines for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), as amended, and Sections 504 and 508 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, as amended. These standards include providing captions for all videos with audio.

Captioning is important to video audiences who are deaf or hard of hearing. They are also utilized often by other viewers, including those for whom the spoken language in the video is a second language, those viewing in a loud environment, those viewing in a sound-sensitive environment, such as a library, and those with a learning disability.
