Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) Notice
All faculty, staff, and students of the University of Florida are required and expected to obey the laws and legal agreements governing copyrights and software use. Failure to do so can lead to monetary damages and/or criminal penalties for the individual violator. Because such violations are also against University policies and rules, disciplinary action will be taken as appropriate.
- Downloading, uploading and sharing of unlicensed music, video or other copyrighted files is illegal.
- Copyright infringement penalties can range from $500-250,000, up to five years in prison and suspension or dismissal from school.
- The Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 ensures that copyrighted material is protected.
