What is NSoT?
The UFIT Network Source of Truth (NSoT) is a web application and database of network and domain ownership data that is maintained within the Infoblox DDI system. NSoT is used by the Information Security Office (ISO) to determine ownership of subnets and domains. It is also used to request new domains.
What NSoT Is Not?
- NSoT does not contain information about web content managers.
- NSoT does not provide a definitive list of UF public or private IP space.
- NSoT does not manage contacts directly. Instead, contacts are handled through AD groups managed by the respective groups.
Domains & Subnets Search
Domains and subnets search has the following options:
- Search Subnets: IPv4 address should be in dotted decimal format (128.x.x.x). An empty search will return all results, therefore slow
- Search Domains: can be a FQDN or a partial name, e.g., floridamuseum.ufl.edu or florida, the latter will return more results
- Search IPs: should be a valid IP address, e.g., 128.227.67.12. The search will return a subnet to which IP belongs
- Subnets by Description: search by subnet description, description could be Department, Building, or Function
- Subnets by Group: choose a group from the drop-down menu to find subnets that belong to the group
- Domains by Group: choose a group from the drop-down menu to find domains that belong to the group
- Contacts by Group: choose a group from the drop-down menu to find the contacts for the group
