Practices for Protecting Yourself

Attachments Never open email attachments or links from suspicious senders!
Responding to Communications Never reveal personal, financial, or corporate information in email. Be wary of unsolicited communications from individuals asking about personal information and/or internal information about your employer or school.
Common Email Scams Take Action with any emails that offer "free" products, rewards, points, you never signed up for, really good job offers, or anything else that seems too good to be true.
Multi-Factor Authentication Use Multi-Factor Authentication wherever possible. You already use Duo for your GatorLink account, but it is important to secure other accounts such as your personal email, bank, and even social media! Many services support MFA; you can view a list at the 2FA Directory.

Social Media Clean up your social media accounts! Remove Geotags, unnecessary personal information, and any identifications of companies you do business with. This information makes it easier for cybercriminals to impersonate you, and potentially take over your online accounts.
Device Backups Periodically back up your devices to an external drive, or the cloud. If your information were to get lost in a social engineering attack, a backup would provide a way to get it back.
