Configuration Management Overview
The purpose of the Configuration Management process is to ensure that the assets required to deliver University of Florida Information Technology organizational units services are properly controlled, and that accurate and reliable information about required IT components is available when and where it is needed. This information includes details of how they have been configured and the relationships between them.
Configuration Management Standards
- Every Configuration Item (CI) must be recorded and maintained in the University of Florida Information Technology organizational units common ITSM toolset.
- All CI’s will have a designated CI owner team accountable for ensuring accuracy.
- All CI’s will contain a set of common attributes shown below.

The responsibility of maintaining current, accurate information in the CMDB belongs to everyone. Each CI will be managed by the Owned By team.
